Provision by Powertraveller International Ltd for taking back Electrical / Electronic Waste from customers

Under the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive, when a customer purchases an EEE product from us, we are required, by UK law, to provide a ‘like for like' take-back service for any old or broken EEE product (if applicable) - this service is provided ‘free-of-charge' and can be utilised in the following ways:

If you live locally then, you may return your WEEE to our head office in person.

You can post any WEEE to our head office and we will reimburse your postage.

IMPORTANT: The waste product must be returned within 28 days of date of the new purchase. WEEE Regulations:

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK's WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

Powertraveller Limited are obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when you buy from us a new

Electrical or Electronic product.

For example, if a customer bought a new WEEE item from us we would accept their old

WEEE item and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol

How to care for your Powertraveller battery

Our products are resilient creatures on the outside that can be bashed and thrown around. However, at the centre there is something a little more sensitive. This is the beating heart of the battery, or in more techy terms- the Lithium battery that continues to keep your devices powered.

Lithium batteries are amazing things, but nonetheless they do have a lifespan and can only be recharged a large but finite amount of times before the battery life starts to diminish.

There is a standard 2 year manufacturers’ warranty with regard to the workmanship of our products (i.e. tips/case), however there is only a one year warranty on the battery. Your battery needs to be used ideally within a year of manufacturing and if used properly will have a lifespan of up to 5 years depending on how often it is used. By reason of its chemistry if your battery sits on a shelf for 2 years the battery will lose condition and will not perform to the best of its ability. Much like a car battery, the more you use it, the more it will be conditioned.

Good news though- there are ways to maintain and improve the lifespan of your battery's life!

Do's

Always try to store your battery at around 60% charged.

Always charge the battery whenever possible, because frequent top-ups are much kinder to the battery than running it until it is flat, but avoid constant DC power.

Always ensure the battery is recharged as soon as possible, if it does become fully discharged. A Li-ion battery will be permanently damaged if left fully discharged for an extended period of time.

Calibrate a new battery by discharging it until the low battery warning prompts you to plug in a power source, (usually around 10%) and then recharge it fully. Doing this once every month or so, will help to keep the battery accurately calibrated. .

Store your battery in a cool, dry place.

Dont's

Never leave your Li-ion battery in a fully discharged state for an extended period of time.

Do not charge your battery inside its case; this could cause the battery to get very hot. Likewise, please do not smother your battery while charging both a device or itself

Keep the battery away from fire or other sources of extreme heat. Do not incinerate. Exposure of batteries to extreme heat may result in explosion.

NEVER use a 3rd party AC mains charger to charge your Powertraveller battery

Do not leave your battery in an airtight place (e.g car glove compartment) for a long period of time.

Do not throw away or dispose of your battery with household waste. Please recycle all batteries, as they contain chemicals which are harmful to the environment.
