Te Araroa Thru Hike

april 12, 2019 1 min read

On November 27, 2014, Patrice and Justin La Vigne started walking from the northern tip of New Zealand at Cape Reinga.  They trekked for 2,050 miles on the Te Araroa Trail - New Zealand's long distance hiking route which is made of up a mixture of older tracks and walkways, new tracks and link sections alongside roads.

They reached the end of the route, arriving in Bluff, the southern tip of New Zealand, on March 29, 2015 - a mammoth 4 month trek!

To keep their essential lines of communication open, the Wandering La Vignes took a solarmonkey adventurer along with them which proved invaluable in charging their GPS and phones.
